Department of Chemical & Environmental Engineering

Dr. Byron Ross is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Kwabi Group at Yale University’s Department of Chemical & Environmental Engineering and the 2026–2027 YCNCC Industry Fellow. His research combines (photo-)electrochemistry, numerical modelling, and experimentation to develop scalable technologies for carbon capture and energy storage.

At Yale, Byron investigates (photo-)electrochemical pH-swing methods for removing carbon dioxide from seawater, alongside research in aqueous flow batteries and fundamental electrochemical kinetics. He received his doctorate from the University of Warwick in the UK, where, in collaboration with the European Space Agency, he studied the performance of (photo-)electrochemical devices under reduced-gravitational conditions.
