I am a soil and ecosystem ecologist with a keen interest in understanding how soil carbon sequestration and other ecosystem functions have been eroded by global environmental changes, exacerbating the climate crisis and pushing planetary boundaries. I am fascinated by the mechanisms that enable some ecosystems to maintain functional resilience under environmental stress, while others are more vulnerable.
Building on this understanding, my research also focuses on translating mechanistic insights into practical solutions for restoring and managing terrestrial ecosystems through a holistic approach. I am particularly interested in harnessing the complementarity of different management interventions to maximise ecosystem service multifunctionality and promote equity among ecosystem services to meet the diverse needs of multiple stakeholders. My current work involves tailoring multiple targeted intervention strategies across different ecological contexts (grasslands, croplands) and management goals.
As a postdoctoral fellow at the YCNCC, my focus is on synthesising and generating evidence on the effectiveness of regenerative agricultural practices in enhancing soil carbon and protecting soil health. Through this work, I aim to provide a more transparent, evidence-based view of the extent to which the adoption of regenerative agricultural practices translates into climate mitigation and adaptation benefits.
