YCNCC-CONNECTED STARTUP EBB CARBON SIGNS MAJOR OFFTAKE AGREEMENT FOR CDR CREDITS WITH MICROSOFT

October 24, 2024

YCNCC-connected startup Ebb Carbon announced today that the company has signed a significant offtake purchase agreement with Microsoft for up to 350,000 carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits to be delivered over a term of ten years.

Ebb was co-founded by YCNCC Science Leadership Team member and Earth & Planetary Sciences Associate Professor Dr. Matthew Eisaman to commercialize technology he invented for an electrochemical ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE) system that stores atmospheric carbon dioxide in seawater while reducing ocean acidity.

This partnership with Microsoft is a major step forward for the company, and represents the largest marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) purchase to date, and one of the largest CDR transactions overall.
