The Yale Center for Natural Carbon Capture (YCNCC) recently convened researchers, practitioners, and partners for a workshop on Developing a Best Practices Guide for MRV of Blue Carbon Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement. The workshop was led by YCNCC’s Gabby Kitch, and co-chaired by YCNCC Co-Director Peter Raymond and Yale Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences (EPS) Professor Noah Planavsky. Funding for the workshop was provided by the YCNCC Workshop Grants Program.

Institutions and organizations represented at the workshop included Conservation International, Georgia Institute of Technology, Isometric, The Ocean Foundation, Old Dominion University, Silvestrum Climate Associates, Terraformation, Tulane University, University of Connecticut, University of Hawaii at Manoa - School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology, University of Rhode Island, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and Yale School of the Environment. Output from the workshop will include a draft best practices guide to serve as a basis for upcoming MRV and protocol development field trials for Blue Carbon OAE.
