This spring, the Yale Center for Natural Carbon Capture (YCNCC) launched a new student-led seminar series for graduate researchers to present and discuss recent work. The series was held on Friday mornings once a month throughout the spring semester, with talks spanning the three YCNCC focus areas: Ecosystem Capture, Geological & Ocean Capture, and Industrial Carbon Utilitization.

Quinn Zacharias: “Reactive riparian interfaces in enhanced rock weathering: implications for carbon and metal dynamics
Ayesha Ahmed: “Integrating CDR with winter de-icing activity: a small plot trial”
Manny Flores: “Sphere of Influence: Adjacent land-use drives changes in forest structure and health in a human-modified landscape”
Kedang Chen: “Artificial synthesis of carbohydrates from electrochemically fixed carbon dioxide”
This series was organized by three YCNCC graduate researchers: Nico Theunissen - Earth & Planetary Sciences (EPS); Skye Hellenkamp - School of Environment (YSE);and Julia Simon - Chemical & Environmental Engineering (CE&E).
The YCNCC thanks all student presenters that volunteered to discuss their research, and the student organizers who worked to ensure these events ran smoothly and provided dissemination of YCNCC research findings. Look for an announcement later this summer on plans to continue the series this fall!
