YCNCC Welcomes Fall 2025 Visiting Scholar Matthew Potts

The Yale Center for Natural Carbon Capture (YCNCC) was pleased to welcome Dr. Matthew Potts as its Fall 2025 Visiting Scholar on October 7-8, 2025. The Yale Applied Science Synthesis Program (YASSP) hosted the visit, which included a packed agenda of talks, panels, and meetings with Center leadership, faculty, and student researchers.

Highlights from Dr. Potts’s visit included a well-attended public lecture on Monday October 7 in Burke Auditorium titled “From Theory to Practice, Advancing Climate Solutions Through Data.” On Tuesday October 8, he participated in a lively morning panel discussion on “Temporal Dynamics of Carbon Dioxide Removal,” alongside YCNCC scientists Sara KuebbingNoah Planavsky, and Eric Slessarev, moderated by YCNCC Managing Director Toby Bryce.

Dr. Potts also recorded an interview with Sara Kuebbing for the Yale Environmental Leadership & Training Initiative’s course, “Navigating Corporate Engagement in Carbon Markets.” Over the course of his visit, he met with YCNCC Directors, YASSP researchers, several lab groups, and YCNCC Faculty and Faculty Affiliates.

YCNCC’s Visiting Scholars program offers the opportunity for Center-affiliated faculty to host researchers from around the world whose work aligns with the Center’s areas of focus. Nominations for Spring 2026 Visiting Scholars will open October 20.
