Biogeochemistry and Blue Carbon

I am a biogeochemist working as a Postdoctoral Associate in the School of the Environment. My interests are predominantly on investigating carbon cycling within aquatic and terrestrial environments with current research primarily examining controls on the burial, export, processing and fate of inorganic and organic carbon within coastal wetland ecosystems. I also examine the impact of anthropogenic activity and modern climate change on these carbon cycling processes in coastal wetlands and in other aqueous ecosystems. Central to my research is application of a diverse array of tools from modeling, to geochemical techniques (e.g. biomarkers, stable and radiogenic isotopes), as well as utilization of ultrahigh resolution mass spectrometry to characterize the sources and degradation histories of these carbon pools.
